staying healthy

So I worked out yesterday and today with the workout video and my sweet tooth kicked in, it seems like when I always start a diet that cravings begin. I think I am going to have one cheat day and it will probably be Saturday. I must say though the Biggest loser workout video was a wonderful investment, it was a really good workout. I want 2009 to be the year of change, financially, spiritually and mentally so we are off to a good start. Nate is leaving on Sunday to go to California, he doesn't want to but he needs to go back to work, and we are just grateful that he does have work. So we are just getting him ready to do that. Avery is getting bigger and stronger everyday. He sits up on his own for at least a minute then goes forward, he also is getting up on all fours and doing the rocking motion, so he wants to crawl just cant figure it out yet. Its so fun to see him grow and get stronger and he is such a happy baby, he has his moments but Nate and I love him very much and cant wait to have more.

Working for free

So I am very frustrated at the fact that I worked for free the whole month of December, some of you know I just started an insurance agency after Avery was born. It was started to have financial freedom and to have more time with children when they get older. My brother in law Josh, owns his insurance agency in Sacramento, he told me it would be hard and I believed him, just didn't know how hard it would ACTUALLY be. I had 9 quotes that I was working on, yes 9, that is pretty good I thought at least. Well they all used me to get lower quotes and then took that to their current agent and guess what, I got nothing. So this week I was in a pretty awful mood. I took yesterday and today to gain some insight and gather my thoughts. Is this something that I actually want to do??? The answer is yes, I enjoy doing it, its a lot of hard work, I just learned a few things this month that will make me a better agent in the long run, I hope!!! So call me crazy but I am just going to take the bull by the horns and wrestle it to the ground until I have conquered the insurance world.

New Year, New Me

That's right people its January 1st!!! Time for New Years Resolutions, I figure if I put them on paper, then I might actually follow through with them. I have several new years resolutions, but the most important of them is I want to lose the last of this stubborn baby weight, it refuses to go anywhere except my hips. I bought the biggest loser workout video and requested some exercise outfits for christmas and I have vowed to do this at least 3x a week. Next I have said to myself and Nate that I am cutting out all juices, all sweets, all desserts, and of course soda. This is going to be hard for me considering Nate LOVES all these things. My goal is to lose 20lbs by April. Cross your fingers, losing weight seems to be hard for me. I feel like I have to work harder than anyone else out there.

I have other new years resolutions, but I felt that was the most important one for some reason, I just want to take on 2009 with a whole different approach. Its true your life is what you make of it and well I just want 2009 to be a great year, physically, spiritually and even financially.

To bring you up to speed

So fast forward a couple of years and somehow we ended up in Fernley, Nevada better known and Ferntucky, its a small little town quite the opposite of Sacramento, so its taking some getting used to, but hey we got Walmart in March so we are big time now!!! Lots of interesting things have happend since we moved out here, I have gotten to know myself a lot better being away from family and half the time Nate is gone as well, because his job takes him all over the West coast, and we even managed to get pregnant! It was quite the suprise, since we had been trying for three years. Then right after I got pregnant, our little town was flooded by a weak canal, and wouldnt you know I picked a great house to rent, thank god we were renting, our house was destroyed, but the most important things survived, boy that was an interesting day. Nate just happend to be in Arizona that day. In July we had our son Avery and I decided to start and insurance agency, dont ask me why. I guess I just like challenges. Anyways that is the Christensen clan in a nutshell, stay tuned for more adventures.

A little about the Christensens

Nate and I have been married for almost five years now, it just seems like yesterday though. I guess that is a good thing that things are going fast. We have had our ups and downs just like any other married couple out there. I am going to tell you how we met and of course my mom is probably yelling at me while she is reading this, but I really think its an awesome story. Both Nate and I were inactive in the church and straying off into different directions. I recently had my heart broken and was just looking, I swore to myself. Well I saw Nate on the yahoo personals, I know I know how could I do that, but Nate e-mailed me and we set up to meet at my work, Raleys on my lunch hour. We talked and had ice cream and that was the beginning of something very awesome. We did not know that we were both members of the church at the time, until our third date, for Nate that sealed the deal. I was a little more cautious, but in the end his sweet smile and personality won me over.
